“I am delighted that Marie is joining our team. External Affairs – with Communications, Crime Control and Prevention, and Victim Services – is our interface with the citizens of Baltimore City. Marie brings extensive municipal, state and federal experience, is a good lawyer, manager and strategist with a keen sense of politics. I look forward to seeing where she takes our office and how she can meet not only the needs of employees in her divisions, but also the needs of our larger community, ”said State Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

Thompson will be one of the agency’s frontline contacts with the community, the press, government officials and foundations. She will also participate in the state prosecutor’s criminal justice system reform plans while overseeing a team of around 40 people.

“Joining the SAO team in Baltimore City is quite a complete experience when I recall my first legal internship experience in a state attorney’s office. Here, every day, I see our attorneys and staff working tirelessly on behalf of the citizens of Baltimore; and I can say without a doubt that our success is based on collaboration with other City agencies. Beyond my usual duties, my hope is to help others look past the tabloid headlines, to bring to light untold stories of the steadfast hearts engaged in the daily work of supporting victims, to restore the calm in lives shattered by crime and doing the invisible, often an invisible but essential ‘partnership’ work in guiding young people towards better outcomes in life, ”said Stephenson.
