California Abilities Network Launches Friendsgiving for People with Disabilities

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) – The California Abilities Network, also known as ICAN, is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities with jobs in their community.

They just opened a new location in Long Beach and kicked off the holiday season by hosting a Friendsgiving event.

“Many of our clients live in diverse housing environments, but also work in a variety of work settings. Elliott, Executive Director of ICAN.

The other ICAN site is located in Torrance. Friendsgiving will be celebrated at both locations.

ICAN will supply approximately 130 customers between their two sites.

“I am grateful to my family. I am grateful to my father and all of my ICAN peers,” said James Wackerman, an ICAN client.

The Long Beach location opened in September and it’s where many clients learn professional skills and socialize with each other through activities. Friendsgiving is their first big event there.

“We have the good old days chatting, talking sports, talking baseball,” said Criss Roberson, an ICAN client.
