iit bombay: Union Minister Pradhan asks IIT Bombay to lead the advancement of new frontiers of knowledge

The 21st century is going to be an era of knowledge, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Sunday and called on IIT Bombay to play a leading role in advancing the new frontiers of knowledge. The minister, who inaugurated a new hostel at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Bombay, said knowledge-based economy and service sector-based economy are now a reality.

Students who passed out from IIT Bombay should strive to become employers and entrepreneurs rather than employees, the minister said. “IIT Bombay is synonymous with excellence. The institute’s focus on research, innovation and entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary dual degree programs in digital health, environment, green energy and data science will redefine India’s position in the knowledge economy of the 21st century,” he said.

The Minister called on IIT Bombay to play a leading role in advancing new frontiers of knowledge, encouraging tomorrow’s innovators to bring about positive changes in human life and attract Indian diaspora and international students . The hostel is equipped with modern facilities such as LAN, wifi and includes gymnasium, music room, student council room and emergency PA system.
