KISS becomes Knowledge, logistics hub of FIFA’s “Football For School” initiative
A letter of intent has been signed in this regard between Youri Djorkaeff, CEO, FIFA Foundation, and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KISS. The document sets out the terms and conditions for the two entities to commit to seeking opportunities together – in particular with regard to the extension of the Football for Schools programme, which is already active in ten FIFA member associations, according to a press release. .
FIFA has chosen KISS as nodal agency for the promotion of football, encouraged by the Chief Minister of Odisha At Naveen Patnaik’s great importance to the promotion of sport as a whole.
In October last year, KISS announced the launch of the first ever FIFA Football for School program in association with FIFA.
The latest development aims to take the engagement between FIFA and KISS, a constituent of the KIIT, to a new level. According to the letter, KISS will act as knowledge centers for Football for Schools training and as logistics centers for the distribution of Football for Schools balls.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Djorkaeff said: “It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we are today signing this Letter of Intent with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. The Football for FIFA Foundation Schools was launched to positively impact the lives of 700 million children.
“Football is the global game, and we have already seen the power it has to unite, inspire and educate in every corner of the world through the work already done by this programme. I am sure that the collaboration that we have put in place today with helping to make this even better and I look forward to the opportunities this will undoubtedly bring to millions of children across the region,” Dr Samanta said in his reaction. Samanta praised the Chief Minister for widely promoting sport in the state and being a constant source of encouragement to all sportsmen Football enthusiasts and game lovers also hailed the latest initiative of FIFA-KISS and congratulated Dr. Samanta for her collaboration.
“The program is well on its way to achieving this goal and is active in South America, Africa, East Asiathe Caribbean, and the Arab world. The partnership we are formalizing here today is the next step in the journey to India and South Asia,” he said
KISS is the world’s largest completely free boarding school and university for Indigenous children, with 30,000 students in residence and 30,000 students on satellite campuses. It has already provided a platform for many sportsmen with state-of-the-art facilities.
