Lamapalooza this weekend at MC Fairgrounds – Austin Daily Herald

The Midwest Lama Association’s annual llamas show, Lamapalooza 2021, takes place this weekend, October 2-3, at the Mower County Fair Grounds in the Crane Pavilion.

Lama is the term used to include both alpacas and llamas. This year’s two-day event will have a Christmas theme and feature obstacle courses with decorations. Christmas photo backgrounds are available and will allow you to prepare your Christmas cards earlier.

There are 12 weekends before Christmas and small business vendors will be available to sell Peruvian jewelry, local alpaca fiber items, 31 bags, scent items, wooden items made by local artisans and handmade llamas from llama fibers.

Lamapalooza has created a public relations opportunity, LamAbilities, which will match llamas with people with different abilities. Each year a different group of individuals from the community with different abilities will be chosen to participate.

This year’s participants are people with developmental disabilities living in Mower and Olmsted counties. Youth and adults from the 4-H Lama program in Mower and Olmsted County will volunteer with participants on an abbreviated Christmas-themed obstacle course.
