Miller of Edinboro as Vice President, Rector of Integrated University
A dean from the University of Edinburgh will assume the role of senior vice president of academic affairs and rector as the university becomes integrated with the universities of California and Clarion.
Scott E. Miller will take up his new role effective July 1, 2022, according to a press release. Miller will lead the integrated institution from an academic affairs perspective, including budgeting, staffing, and institutional planning. He will also lead all university programs and lead the development of new programs that support the mission of the Integrated University and the Pennsylvania State higher education system.
“I am delighted that Dr. Miller has accepted this position,” said Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, president of Clarion University and interim president of the universities of California and Edinboro. “His record of leadership, commitment and professional experience will be a critical part of our success as our three universities come together to serve our students, our employees and our region. “
Miller has been Dean of the School of Business at Edinburgh University since 2012 and Dean of its College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences since 2015. He is also Acting Dean of the College of Science and Health Professions.
Miller co-led a team that developed the academic programs for the integrated university and remains a member of the Academic Affairs functional implementation team.
“I have a keen interest in the success of the new four-campus university (including online) and will do whatever I can to help its success,” Miller said in a statement. “Having worked closely with the deans and academic leadership of California and Clarion over the past year, and with the leadership of Edinboro for over nine years, I firmly believe that integration has the potential not only to revitalize our three physical campuses, but also to deliver real profit, not only in higher education, through the economic and cultural impacts on western Pennsylvania.
Miller holds a doctorate in business administration from Anderson University, a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Gannon University. He is a certified public accountant, lawyer and member of governance.
