Sinead O’Connor Believed Son Shane Had ‘Psychic’ Abilities Before Tragic Death
Grieving mother Sinead O’Connor believed her tragic son Shane had “psychic” abilities.
The singer was heartbroken after her beloved boy committed suicide at the age of just 17.
Just a few months ago, the Nothing Compares 2 U star spoke poignantly and lovingly about Shane in her memoir.
She also revealed that he was declared a “genius” when he was only eight years old.
In his book Memories, Sinead, 55, wrote: “Shane is an extremely special character, very, very psychic and very, very spiritualized.
“When he was three, he once asked me, ‘Did you have an earthquake when I was in your belly?’ At first I said no because I had forgotten that I had been.
“When it had been in my womb for two weeks – I didn’t even know I was pregnant – I was on vacation in Malta and there was an earthquake.
“I never thought about it again, I never talked about it. I never told the child; I don’t even think I told anyone else. Yet this three year old was able to tell me that I was actually in an earthquake, and I don’t know how he found out.
She also recalled an incident in the tub when he asked her about God. Sinead added:
“Another time he was in his bath and he asked me, ‘Have you ever met God?’ And I said, well, maybe I did, some kind of magical thing happened to me, and maybe I met God somehow.
“The child laughed at me as the water came out of the bath and said, ‘This is not how you meet God,’ he told me. “You have to make your dreams come true. “
“Shane was assessed at eight and declared a genius. I was told he had the learning ability, vocabulary and mathematical reasoning of a 16 year old.
He started studying science at a college with adults in Dublin, but he didn’t like going there, so it didn’t last long.
Sinead also proudly stated in his autobiography that Shane is an excellent cook and that she believes he will continue his career by helping others.
