Summary

Responsible for increasing regional distribution results at store and chain level with assigned customers. Handles all sales and HQ calls for assigned customers. Also responsible for all activities related to increasing productivity performance such as: training, store reviews, feedback to subordinates and team members, and coordinating sales execution meetings. Responsible for increasing market penetration and seeking new opportunities to implement new strategies to gain shelf space at the store level by performing the following tasks:

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive accounts to achieve set goals, annual volume and profitability targets, impacting business plans and overall company strategies.
  • Achieve sales budget by brand while adhering to spend guidelines outlined in MDF policy.
  • Focus on opening new businesses as opportunities arise. Documents all new leads and customers in the pipeline system.
  • Manage programs, assist with annual budget development, accurately forecast upcoming volume goals and process all monthly billings.
  • Implements all trade promotion plans prior to start date. Introduces the plans into the trade promotion system.
  • Responsible for maximizing MDF productivity within assigned clients, direct and indirect.
  • Promote all brands and packages consistently and in a timely manner across the region to distributors and direct customers.
  • Keep track of all competitive activity and market changes and report them to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and industry trends, competitors and key customer strategies. Reports all competitive activity within assigned channels.
  • Process all deductions and promotions within the timeframes defined in the MDF policy. Request reimbursement for all unauthorized deductions.
  • Introduce assigned Buyers to all new items that are added to the Novamex portfolio in a timely manner within sales strategy guidelines for the region.
  • Fosters a creative environment to deliver fresh and innovative initiatives at the store level.
  • Responsible for completing assigned projects within agreed budget and timelines.
  • Presents sales promotions on all brands to buyers or broker representatives. Introduces new items to buyers or broker networks.
  • Organize all promotional programs including additional merchandising efforts.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to manage orders and stock levels.
  • Ensure food safety, quality and SQF practices are followed at all times, notifying the immediate manager of any food safety and/or quality issues.
  • Represent the company at trade shows. Collaborate with marketing to produce key selling propositions, trade shows, etc.
  • Stays within travel and entertainment budget.
  • Evaluates brokers once a year.
  • Other assigned tasks.

Qualifications

The candidate must be self-motivated, organized and highly productive, with the ability to work well within a diverse and highly skilled team in a fast-paced work environment. Be effective in working as a member of a team within the sales department as well as with marketing staff by providing leadership on the brand, communicating opportunities to other key managers that can be shared, engaging the sales force in the Brand Director’s vision and strategies, and working collaboratively with production, accounting and other areas within Novamex.

Excellent customer service skills, analytical abilities as well as verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Must be able to multi-task across multiple projects.

Education and experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college; and/or 5+ years of related experience; Channel experience; ideally in food and/or beverage categories, hands-on experience with all aspects of integrated marketing; demonstrated experience in leading, managing and supervising a team or department; financial expertise and familiarity, including budget planning and control, financial statement analysis, and P&Ls. Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Language ability:

English/Spanish bilingualism essential. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Emphasis is placed on excellent communication skills to develop clear reporting, business correspondence and presentations for the company. Ability to effectively present information and answer questions from groups of managers, clients, clients. Overall excellent communication and writing skills.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
